This free one-hour online class will cover a mini introduction to filmmaking. It will include story development and screenwriting, pre-production project management, and equipment overview. All of these elements will assist you in the process of shooting your short film. This workshop is geared toward the beginner filmmaker but all levels of experience are welcome.

Teaching: Screenwriting
Leah is an award winning filmmaker, media artist, and educator with 16 years of experience in media arts and production. Her films have toured internationally. Her most recent short film, Moon Crab, has won four awards and will broadcast on PBS in April. Leah is also a Fulbright grantee, a Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund Fellow, and a recipient of multiple Maryland State Arts Council grants.
Teaching: Pre-Production Planning
Jessica has 10 years of experience in animation and media production. Her credits includes shows on Netflix, Apple TV, and Hulu. She specializes in production management and currently working on her own short stop animation film. She hosts the WIFV Art of Animation monthly online gathering.
Teaching: Equipment for all budget levels.
Tara has been involved in video production and filmmaking for 20 years. She is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and her films have appeared on PBS. She has filmed in all kinds of conditions from the snowy mountains to the stormy seas.
At the end of this 2-day workshop participants will have the knowledge to write their first short script for narrative or documentaries, have knowledge of the grant writing process, how to budget and track your progress, and get hands-on experience with filming and editing.
